Pasta with Sausage, Kale, and Walnut Gremolata

This was a recipe that had foods I wasn’t sure my family would like, all put together. The Fudgelet is sometimes funny about lemon, and he hasn’t had much in the way of nuts. Then K doesn’t enjoy kale. At all. But, I also want to make sure that the Fudgelet gets a variety of foods since even if K or I don’t like something, he might. I have tried cooking regular kale for K before, but never this type and I thought it might be better for him since part of his issue with kale is the curly texture. This is smoother and seemed closer to spinach.

What do you think they thought?

Completely Homemade Lasagna

I’m not sure exactly why, but one day I had it in my head that I wanted to try making lasagna from scratch…as in, the flat pasta sheets. I think part of it is how easy it is to use the new pasta making attachments I have and since the pasta sheets turn out so smooth from it, I thought it might be quite doable. I did technically skip making the sauce from scratch this time, but you could totally use homemade sauce, too. I just wanted to limit my variables slightly to see how it would go.

Topic-Changing Thursdays: The Chiplet is 9 Months Old!

3/4 of the way to toddlerhood. Or to being a “taby” as Busy Toddler names it (toddler/baby). As usual, he keeps growing so quickly and changing so much. In fact, I need to edit something for last month. Apparently he has been clapping for awhile but we just thought he was doing a funny motion…but after seeing him do it each time we clap and looking at it, he basically is doing a vertical clap instead of a regular horizontal one.

Sous Vide Shrimp with Paprika

We had some friends visit us from San Francisco recently and they were kind enough to gift all of us with fun toys. They got me a sous vide gadget. Now, K’s brother uses one frequently but I’ve never considered getting one. It seemed too fancy for me, and too complicated. But, since I now had one, of course I had to use it and try it out! I did some research and decided that a shrimp dish would both be the easiest (it’s hard to undercook shrimp) and make the most sense to appreciate the tool (perfectly cooked shrimp that tastes extra shrimpy because of the technique sounds great!).

Skillet Sesame Chicken

What are some favorite recipes? Ones that I can make during the week. Often, we have leftovers during the week, but I like being able to make one or two simple meals that are fresh but easy. This is definitely an easy meal that tastes really good.

I’ve made other recipes with sesame chicken but I like how you can take the same or similar ingredients and make something that seems so different.

German Pancake

Once again I am bringing a breakfast food we had for dinner…because that is what we often do around here. I’ve gotten around to making more of them for brunch on the weekend, but sometimes it is easier for dinner when I can be louder while cooking (for lunch, the Chiplet is often napping until right before we eat, so I wouldn’t be able to do things like use a blender/etc. This recipe doesn’t look like much, but it was tasty and enjoyed by all of us.
