Triple Chocolate Cake: The Filling and Frosting

Continuing from Monday, I am here to share with you the remaining part of the chocolate cake I had for my birthday.

I was really interested in this cake because the frosting was a German Buttercream, which I have never had before. Basically, you make pudding and combine it with a normal frosting recipe of butter and sugar. It had a nice chocolate flavor, but it was lighter feeling than other buttercreams. I struggled a bit because I cooled the pudding as per the recipe directions, and I found that it did not want to combine with the room temperature butter. Basically, you want it to cool down until room temperature so they can mesh together.

Triple Chocolate Cake: The Cake

For my birthday, I wanted to make a treat and I was deciding between a couple options. I ended up picking a cake recipe that seemed fairly straightforward with a new-to-me frosting. After thinking about it, I asked the kids if they wanted to make my cake for me. Of course, they just did the cake and I did the filling and frosting later, but they were dedicated and focused for the time it took. The Fudgelet even got to use the stove! (With my guidance, of course.)

BBQ Grilled Chicken (Dad’s version)

We recently went on a vacation with my Dad and M. One night, K, the kids, and I were out at a water slide park, while my Dad and M stayed home. When we came back, we were all quite hungry, but my dad had grilled chicken thighs with a version of his usual recipe. We managed to demolish the thighs in no time (mostly the Fudgelet).
