Merry Christmas 2017!

I’m just writing a little post now and who knows, maybe after the Chiplet is here I will have time to update with some family pictures or something. In the meantime, I want to share that although it is the first Christmas I won’t be “home” in Maryland with family, I still get to be with family in our home. Hopefully next year we can once again travel to Maryland to see everyone for Christmas (and other visits, too) but for now, it is nice to have a cozy place to celebrate without hopping on an airplane. My dad and stepmother M will already be back in Maryland by now. My brother and family were visiting Maryland for Thanksgiving, and then my dad and M were coming after their visit to meet the Chiplet and see us. Then, with a little time in-between, K’s parents are coming around Christmas to stay with us for a bit, too. So, although we don’t get to see all of our family members, we still get some family time that I know the Fudgelet will love.

Because I knew Thanksgiving would be a hectic time for us, we planned an early Friendsgiving to celebrate. We also did some early Christmas decorating because I wanted the Fudgelet to be able to still celebrate. As I write this, we are not yet at this point, so I am only predicting. But, I am planning all of this to keep some normalcy in these exciting times.

I am happy to have been able to share another calendar year on this blog with everyone and hope you are also having time with family and friends.

Topic-Changing Thursdays: The Chiplet is 1 Month Old

That’s right, the Chiplet has been here for over a month now. Crazy, right? He has brought with him sleepless nights and rushed meals, but also happy snuggles with the Fudgelet and excitement over watching him grow. Unlike the Fudgelet, I have not had to worry about his size at all. He started getting bigger right away and hasn’t stopped. At this rate, he will be bigger than the Fudgelet in no time (only sort of kidding). He is very different than the Fudgelet and brings with him his own challenges.

The Fudgelet wrote the words for his sign

Pumpkin Pie Cloud Dough and Zucchini

Are you confused? Well, I came across this activity for making apple pie cloud dough which sounded neat, but I didn’t have apple pie spice on hand. What I did have was pumpkin pie spice.

So, I decided to make a smaller batch with pumpkin pie spice, and then it inspired me to cook zucchini with it for dinner. Both turned out great, so keep reading for both!

S’Mores Cupcakes (best yet)

When I made these, Fall had just started. I wanted to make a new dessert since we had just finished the last one. As I was flipping through, I remembered liking the spice cupcakes I had made from this Food Network pamphlet, and decided to try a different recipe from it. I saw Chocolate Marshmallow cupcakes and was excited. Then, I changed some of the ingredients a bit, added graham crackers to turn them into proper s’mores and was very happy with the result. These turned out much better than my previous attempts at recipes like this.

Fudgelet Adventures (part 11): Toddler Games and Crafts

Over the summer and into the fall, the Fudgelet and I were busy doing lots of activities since some days we couldn’t play outside or with friends for various reasons (travel, colds, bad air from wildfires nearby, etc.). So we worked on some skills such as holding crayons properly, writing some letters, coloring, gluing, and using scissors. I didn’t get pictures of everything, like this car game we made after seeing the one from Sarah at Frugal Fun.
