These were so good. Even days later. I had never thought to try chocolate cinnamon rolls before but there was a recipe with other variations that the Fudgelet saw. He wanted us to try them, so that’s what I did. I spent some time in the evening making the dough, then let it rise during bedtime things and finished it when the kids were asleep. Then I baked them for our lunch.
I will be sharing more soon…I’ve been super happy with all of the recipes I have been making from this Bread in 5 book. Basically, the premise of this book and others in the series are that you spend about 5 minutes prepping the bread dough, then you bake it later and can have fresh bread on a more regular basis.
For today’s recipe I came across a recipe that looked fairly simple and fast but still appealing to us. I made some changes and it was so easy and delicious!
We actually made this craft during the Fudgelet’s “P” week at preschool. Totally unintentional. If it had been planned, I would have had him take it in to share. Basically we were browsing Pinterest for ideas as we sometimes do, and we came across this craft. He wanted to make it, but the Chiplet woke up not long after so that night after bedtime I took the time to draw the parts and have everything ready. We ended up not getting around to it for over a week because we did other things and the Chiplet was doing really awful sleep. We followed the basic guidelines from this website but worked in some of our own ideas too.
One weekend I randomly decided to try to make a different shape of pasta. No particular reason, just felt like making pasta. I am sharing it today in case you decide to make some pasta as a romantic gesture for Valentine’s Day.
I do want to state that I did not make the most beautiful farfalle, but it was a first attempt. And, I also feel it is okay because if it tastes okay and it took some effort, your special someone will probably still appreciate it.
After making breakfast pizza before, I didn’t make it again for awhile. Until now. I had been super happy with my latest pizza dough and I found a recipe to make breakfast pizza a different way. So, I decided to try to combine the two. I made the dough one night and then woke up in the middle of the night (thanks, Chiplet) to find out the power was out in the house. In fact, most of our region was without power from a wind storm. So, I was left with dough that I couldn’t cook since our generator was not quite strong enough to risk using the oven. So, I contacted the pizza dough recipe creator on Twitter and he actually gave me the idea to try grilling the pizza. It was dry and not too cold out so I decided to give it a go. And of course it started raining as soon as I started grilling. And then it was so dark out that I couldn’t quite tell what I was doing. So, the first pizza was just so-so. Then a few days later I made a second pizza with the remaining dough and it actually turned out much better with the oven, so maybe a regular pizza would be fine on the grill but not this version? Who knows. Either way, this one was great.
As for our power?
I was meal planning for the week and was looking for main courses when I came across an asparagus and fennel soup. Now, you might say…where is the fennel? Well, I saw this soup but figured it wasn’t prime season for asparagus, leeks, or fennel right now so I would wait. While I was at the grocery store I actually saw some good looking asparagus. When I went to cook it that night, I decided to look back at the soup recipe. I missed most of the key ingredients but decided to do my own version. It ended up so good that all of us loved it. Even the Chiplet kept asking for more, pointing at that bowl over his meat (his usual favorite part of a meal).
