First off, if you missed it last week, I shared that the Chiplet had arrived!
These are like glorified pop tarts. Or just little pastries. You could easily fill them with other fruit or fillings, but I did quite like the blueberry filling. These were a nice breakfast, but beware that they are filling with the butter in the pastry dough. Next time, I plan on doubling the filling because there was plenty of room left inside the pies for more.
As I expected, the Chiplet arrived early. Even earlier than I expected, especially since I had started to doubt myself. I had no indications he was coming anytime soon, so I figured I was just being overly hopeful. Here I was with so many things ready (although I still had a couple tasks I hadn’t done since I had been feeling poorly the week prior to his arrival), and I figured I had jinxed myself. That he was not only coming later, but maybe even late!
So, Happy Thanksgiving and here is something I am thankful for this year that I didn’t even predict last year:
Come back next week for more pictures and the birth story!
This recipe was part of the beginning for us realizing how much we love dill. And yes, I realize that this post is about grilling and it is November. But give me a break…I ran out of summer weeks to share this. I started adding dill to all the things this summer after realizing how much K liked it, and I always loved it but had forgotten about it. My mom used to cook with it a bunch, partially because we always had a ready supply in our garden. I’ve tried growing it but had no luck. Maybe I need to try again. You know, when warm weather comes around, and maybe when the baby gives me a chance to do it.
I know it’s been awhile since I’ve written to you on here. Over a year, in fact! But, it’s not like you haven’t been all over this blog anyway. So, I hope you don’t mind. Besides, I now get to have full conversations with you in person, so I don’t need to share everything to some future Fudgelet. (Will I call you just Fudge on here when you get older?)
Let’s preface this with…the Chiplet could be here by now. Or maybe not. And by typing this, I have a weird deja vu feeling from when I wrote stuff like this about the Fudgelet’s arrival. If the Chiplet is here, I hope to give an update soon. If he hasn’t arrived yet or my update is slow, you can also check my Instagram/Twitter pages in case I update there first.
Now, onto the muffins!
We are getting really close to baby time. Even though I am writing this a couple months ahead of time, this still feels close to baby time. I am doing lots of preparation for this birth but still feel kind of behind. We are still figuring out what to do with the crib situation…do we move the Fudgelet to a regular bed or order another crib for the baby? I am leaning towards new crib but the ones we like are pricey and maybe I am being overly cautious? I don’t know…and I still need to buy some other stuff for the baby, like a new baby monitor. Ours is fine…a bit buggy, but all of the video ones seem to have bugs and not last very long. Regardless, our current one is okay but probably won’t last much longer (hopefully until next summer or so when I plan on being done using it for the Fudgelet). By the time this post is live, I’m hopeful all of this will be sorted out and I can just worry about the stuff I can’t fully prepare for (when labor starts, how the Fudgelet will be when I’m at the hospital, how the new kid will handle newborn things, how we will handle two kid things…).
