The days after Thanksgiving…what do you run out of first? We always are left with lots of starches and run out of turkey first. Part of the “problem” is that we make lots of starches and only the one turkey breast. So, what to do? Well, rolls are great for a lunch sandwich to switch things up a bit. Mashed potatoes can go with lots of proteins. But what about stuffing? It is generally best with poultry, but this year I decided to casserole-it. It already had sausage in it, so I figured I would turn it into a breakfast casserole.
While preparing for the Chiplet’s birthday, I did lots of decorating and need to share two major takeaways.
Sometimes I go to make a recipe and think I have all of the necessary ingredients but then forget something. This seems to happen a lot lately. Almost like I’m sleep-deprived? Hahaha. Well, anyway, it’s not like I have all of the time to just run out and pick up what I need when I realize it, so I have learned to be flexible.
Once the weather starts getting warmer…actually, no, that’s not true. Once it starts getting more consistently sunny. Or warmer. Or both. I don’t really care, I just get the grilling itch. I really don’t understand why I like it so much. It is a similar amount of work to cooking inside, but for some reason I find it enjoyable.
Nothing too crazy here today. Just ice cream without cream. Now, this isn’t ice cream that will completely fool you into thinking it is normal ice cream. And I would still like to try other options in the future with coconut milk, but this was a great first attempt. The Fudgelet and Chiplet were both big fans.
I made liege waffles and kept forgetting to take new pictures but here I am today with some more, and a substitution!
One weekend I randomly decided to try to make a different shape of pasta. No particular reason, just felt like making pasta. I am sharing it today in case you decide to make some pasta as a romantic gesture for Valentine’s Day.
I do want to state that I did not make the most beautiful farfalle, but it was a first attempt. And, I also feel it is okay because if it tastes okay and it took some effort, your special someone will probably still appreciate it.
