Vanilla Cake with Blueberries, Chocolate Ganache Frosting, and Spooky Marshmallow Spiderwebs

Woohoo! I’m back to recipes with long titles. Well, I’ve already done some of those post-baby, and this one really wasn’t hard to do. The cake recipe was straightforward to make, even with a little Fudgelet hanging around snacking on the blueberries.

White Cake with Ombre Vanilla Frosting

This is a special time. The Fudgelet is turning 2, K is celebrating a birthday larger than 2, and it’s the middle of summer. I actually did not make this cake this week, although maybe I should. Either way, it is a great cake for celebrating special times…or just to celebrate cake. That’s the reason I made this one. I was watching a bunch of YouTube videos of cake decorating, particularly this channel and was inspired to make a cake. In particular, I loved their unicorn cake with rainbow sides. I had tried an ombre finish before, but the more I worked the frosting, the finish just turned…pink. It was a yummy cake, anyway, so I figured I didn’t have much to lose.

Battle of the Cakes (Part 2): Sweetapolita’s Buttermilk Cake with Chocolate Cloud Frosting

As mentioned in the first part of my “Battle of the Cakes”, the cake today had a super easy frosting. Easy to make, and easy to use. The taste is a bit sweet and light compared to other chocolate frostings I have had. The cake is almost spongey, so that is good or bad, depending on what type of cake you like. The frosting does pair well with the cake because you don’t want a heavy frosting for it. The technique for making the cake layers was also different compared to what I’ve done for other cakes, so go check it out below! In the meantime, you can look at the fun I had frosting it…
