It is another month of Foodie Penpals! I like that I keep getting paired with people from the Midwest and Northeast because I have never been to those places. There are so many new foods to try! This month I sent to Shannon in Minnesota and received from Laura in Connecticut. Both ladies like to cook and blog, so be sure to check them out! I tried to send Shannon lots of snacks (sorry for any health folks out there, but it is fun to send to snack-lovers…and random health bars just aren’t as good as things like brownies and cookies!). Hopefully she enjoyed the goodies as much as I did getting them together. The brownies I made her, and the cookies, will be up on the blog soon….in the meantime, check out her page and see what I sent her.
Meanwhile, selfish time!!! My presents!!!
I skipped last month’s foodie penpal exchange because I knew I would not have enough time to get things together for it. A friend was visiting, I was visiting back home, we had a mini-vacation scheduled…it just wasn’t going to happen. I was excited to pick up again this month. I sent items to Meg in New York and received from Amy in North Carolina of Basal Evolution. Meg didn’t give me any restrictions, so I got lots of snack foods for her. I even discovered some new ones for myself!
Such a big pile
This month was super exciting for me with the Foodie Penpals Exchange. Not only did I have two new people to interact with, but they both actually were like penpals. It was fun sending emails back and forth and learning about their parts of the country. The person I sent to also goes by Aly, and we joked that we both spell it the “right” way! She has a Tumblr page here you can check out. She likes to be healthy, but not crazily so. I had a good time picking out food for her since I couldn’t go my standard “sweet” route. I didn’t think that would be fair to someone trying to behave diet-wise. 🙂 I wished I could have sent her some of our local cheese since she is a Wisconsinite (get a pro’s opinion), but I didn’t think it would keep properly!
I was also excitedly awaiting to hear from Autumn who is super busy as a student in Indiana. She likes to cook, and is into makeup! Girl after my own heart. It made me really happy when she told me she made the cookie pie I had posted and enjoyed it. Such a sweetie!
Keep reading after the break to see what I received!
What will be inside??
Another month, another foodie penpals exchange! Last month I received a recipe and ingredients from Carolynne in Chicago. After such success, I had to continue in May. This time I actually would be receiving gifts from someone in the area. When Krysten told me her location, I had to ask my husband because I am still learning my way around Seattle. I definitely did not care because there are probably many local goodies I have yet to know about. Krysten actually has several blogs, so you should check her out! I sent stuff to Jeannette in Houston and was happy when she received her items (I hope safe and sound). She will be posting on her blog about what I picked out for her. Keep reading to find out how special I was to have Krysten as my sender!
Yay for a penpal exchange with FOOD! If you don’t know what this is, basically Lindsay matches you with two people–one you will be sending stuff to, and one you will be receiving stuff from. It lets you meet two new people each month. There are some guidelines that she lists on the page, but otherwise you have $15 to come up with what you would like to send from your hometown–homemade or store bought.
