Today I have some more activities. One is more involved than the others. Let’s start with the fancier activity that we did multiple times…
Today I have some pictures and ideas to share that I have been doing with the Fudgelet over the last few months. Over the next few weeks I have lots of adventures to share, so stay tuned to see more!
Often I have the Fudgelet help me make food that I’ve made before so that I know easy ways he can help. But, I also love making new recipes, so sometimes we end up with some misses (or at least recipes I wouldn’t make again). Below we have some of these to share. Let’s start with something that was easy for the Fudgelet to make (he did most of the work) but wasn’t my favorite brownie recipe.
Over the summer and into the fall, the Fudgelet and I were busy doing lots of activities since some days we couldn’t play outside or with friends for various reasons (travel, colds, bad air from wildfires nearby, etc.). So we worked on some skills such as holding crayons properly, writing some letters, coloring, gluing, and using scissors. I didn’t get pictures of everything, like this car game we made after seeing the one from Sarah at Frugal Fun.
As you (might) know, my posts tend to be a bit delayed on here. I usually can’t make a recipe and have time to write about it immediately, so that’s how it goes. I actually am writing about this party only a couple days after it happened, but just posting it about 2 months after the fact. The Fudgelet normally parties at home for his birthday. This year, since it was his last birthday as an only child, I decided to go somewhere. Since he loves blueberries, we were going to do a two part one…pick blueberries, then go to a park and play/eat. Well, as you see, I said “we were.” We had a rainier and cooler spring this year which meant berries weren’t ready until near the end of July (normally they are ready around July 4). And then the park part had to get cancelled, too, since it ended up raining that morning for a bit (the first rain of the entire month, and then some). Siiiiiiigh. So, back to hosting it at home! He was a little disappointed at first, but then recovered when he knew that everyone was still coming here. He cared more about seeing his friends than the park.
Awhile back I realized that the Fudgelet and I hadn’t made any crafts recently. With such nice weather outside, we had been spending our afternoons playing with chalk/bubbles/sand/etc. Not that any of that is bad, but the Fudgelet himself mentioned that he wanted to do some crafts, specifically related to animals. So, we looked on Pinterest and bookmarked a bunch that looked cute. The day came when he said he wanted to make something and he wanted it to involve painting. He picked an elephant craft we saw where you make elephants out of your kid’s hands. But here was the problem…there were no directions and the picture was really small. So, I needed to improvise.
Just a quick little post today with some fun the Fudgelet and I had back in the spring. Yes, I probably could switch to 3 posts a week on here to keep things closer to when they happen, but…well, I’m also trying to keep my normal writing routine going strong so that I can maybe get lots of posts lined up for post-new baby arrival. Last time I think I scheduled for about 1 or 2 months after the Fudgelet’s arrival, so we shall see if I can do at least that. Still lots of new recipes coming, too.
