Fudgelet and Chiplet Adventures (part 22): Snowy Winter

I know we are a month into spring already, but I figured this was as good a time as any to wrap up winter with some pictures. Maybe you will see something of interest for next winter.

Rainbow Cookies

On the hunt for a different recipe, I flipped through and the Fudgelet saw this. He can’t resist rainbow treats (see me making this and this and this). So here we are again with a different rainbow. What are we celebrating with this one? Well, maybe my dad’s birthday. Maybe some good news I had today about the Chiplet, who by the way can eat these. Candy melts as a frosting are a great allergy-friendly option, by the way.

King Arthur Flour Vanilla Birthday Cake

More pictures will be shared Wednesday when I share the frosting, but this cake was for the Fudgelet turning 4.5! I actually made it as a surprise for him. I baked the cake while he was at school, and then hid it (kind of…it was still on the counter cooling when he came home, and then I managed to wrap it up without him seeing it later). I made the frosting and frosted it while he was sleeping, so when I revealed the cake in the morning he was quite confused! He did appreciate the sprinkles.

Topic-Changing Thursdays: The Chiplet is 16 Months Old!

If you want to refresh your memory from 14 months, here it is. I left off talking about his snuggles, and really he is still like that. He has separation anxiety in such a big way. It started when he was around a year, but it has gotten worse over the last few months. What makes it really bad is he mostly wants me. Even K isn’t enough to appease him sometimes. I think part of it is he sees me as his food source (he doesn’t like to eat much for other people) and his source for sleep, so if he is hungry or tired, he wants to come to me. He also wants to come over to me to check on me and make sure I’m still around and okay. So, all of this to say that he is still quite attached. I’m not worried, though, since I remember the Fudgelet was also quite attached and he has no problem being dropped at school; sometimes, he won’t even say goodbye until I remind him!

Friday Favorites 29

I know it is a day late, but I don’t have a new pie recipe to share for pi day. I didn’t want to let the day go by without saying anything, so I decided to do a day after post showing some fun pies I’ve seen. My fingers are crossed right now with the hope that I can make a dairy and/or nut pie for the family and then maybe share it soon. The Chiplet is having more tests done and I really really hope to have some good news. Either way, I will make something circular for us.

Fudgelet Adventures (part 21): Pop-up Polar Bear Craft

We actually made this craft during the Fudgelet’s “P” week at preschool. Totally unintentional. If it had been planned, I would have had him take it in to share. Basically we were browsing Pinterest for ideas as we sometimes do, and we came across this craft. He wanted to make it, but the Chiplet woke up not long after so that night after bedtime I took the time to draw the parts and have everything ready. We ended up not getting around to it for over a week because we did other things and the Chiplet was doing really awful sleep. We followed the basic guidelines from this website but worked in some of our own ideas too.

Topic-Changing Thursdays: The Fudgelet is 4.5 Years Old!

So, what has changed since last summer? Well, the Fudgelet has been in preschool which is a major change for us. I wasn’t sure how it would go but it has been great for him. Even though he knows most of what they are teaching, he isn’t bored and finds it fun. As of the time I am posting this, I will have had a conference with his teachers to hear about his progress. But, I am writing this ahead of that soooo I am hoping he has been good.
