I had already posted about the Chiplet turning 1 year old but I didn’t get a chance to share his pictures from his birthday or his party. So, as you recover from Christmas parties, let’s talk birthday parties!
So, here we are! We made it to one year. Knowing that there is a lot going on this month, I can pretty much guarantee the Chiplet’s one year pictures will have to be shared in an upcoming post instead, but I still wanted to post about this milestone. I finally have two kids who aren’t “babies” even though they kind of still are.
Today’s post is not about a recipe for sugar cookies. Basically, I just used another blogger’s recipe which worked really well. This is more a “if I can do it, you can do it” post. I am horrible with decorating and making things look pretty. I’m not a big fashion person, home decorator, cake decorator, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to be that person. I see other people do it and am always impressed. Many of my friends are that way, which makes me both sad that I am not better, but also okay since I can always ask their advice. I am better at other things, and I am satisfied with that. Most of the time. Then there are times when I decide to stretch my limits. I am here to tell you to stretch your limits as well. You could surprise yourself with how good you are.
As mentioned previously, we had a mini party for the Fudgelet’s first birthday, and then a bigger one with friends. Both were after a family one in Maryland. The family one was a hybrid July 4th/Birthday party. And the Fudgelet didn’t get any cake that day. I know, sad sad. But, I figured if he had waited this long, he could wait a little longer and have a special cake with ingredients I knew. Since he wasn’t quite 1 year while we were in Maryland, and I hadn’t received the “all-clear” from the doctor on foods yet, I wanted to wait. Since then, we have received the “eat all the foods” (except choking hazards) comment, which means that the Fudgelet has had all sorts of treats since. I’ve made him grilled cheese, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches…. and we are trying to work in other new foods, too. He has been a little picky with his solid foods lately. As in, not wanting much of any of them right now, so we have to cross that hurdle first.
I decided to save the friend party pictures for another post when I hope to share some food recipes from it. For today, it is our simpler family party.
