What is this Halloween in February nonsense, you say? It’s called…I could delay this post and schedule it in October of this year but it seems so weird when these were all done pre-Chiplet and I want this October to be with ideas for a family with 2 kids and not just the Fudgelet. So, maybe you don’t have a need for a spider cake in February, but maybe you do? Maybe you can use the same idea to make a heart cake? Or something else fun?

Battle of the Cakes: Part 1 (Flour’s Yellow Birthday Cake)
Battle of the Cakes, you ask? Yes. At the verrrrry end of 2015 and very start of 2016, I was on a cake-making fix. I made two similar cakes back to back. Normally I struggle with cakes, but I’ve been giving myself more practice and these two cakes came together pretty easily. Even the frosting was…dare I say…fun?!?!? Since the cakes are so similar, this is almost like a throwdown for me to compare them. If I had to pick one cake in its entirety, it would be this one. But, the frosting for the other cake was both easier to make and easier to frost the cake. This one is richer, and the other one is a bit sweeter and lighter (texture and taste). This is much more buttery and creamy.
Cookie Butter Blondies with Ganache
So, I kind of took the idea of a blondie and ran with it, turning it into something with cookie butter and ganache…and then putting it in a pie form. Because everything looks cuter as a pie. Except for babies. Babies are just cute on their own. Although, a baby holding a pie? Outrageous cuteness.
