I just shared pizza balls, but now I am sharing pizza muffins. This recipe is good to do when you don’t have enough time to make bread dough, but also want more of the toppings. The pizza balls were more bread than pizza, and these are the opposite.
This recipe is great as an easy lunch for home or to take to school/work. They are kind of like bagel bites, but more customizable. You could also make the dough yourself, but I was still trying to keep it easy. This is also nice because you can freeze extras and pull out for a future meal.
Directions for Pizza Muffins
Adapted from One Little Project
- Crescent roll dough
- Tomato sauce
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Any other toppings, such as pepperoni
- Seasoning, such as oregano or Italian seasoning
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and spray a muffin tin (maybe 2). Roll out the crescent dough and smooth the seams a bit. Take a biscuit cutter and cut circles that are about the size of a muffin tin pan. Place the circles into the muffin tin. I got about 18, but you could make fewer, especially if you double up the dough to make them thicker if you want a thicker crust. Then, add some tomato sauce into each. Sprinkle the cheese on top, then add the toppings and seasoning. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until browned. Allow to cool for just a few minutes before popping them out of the pans.
