We made our twice-annual visit to Maryland to see family, friends, and celebrate Christmas. Shortly after this post goes live we will be back home and getting ready to celebrate New Year’s Eve with friends and our small family Christmas. We save our gifts for when we get home…lots of pros because you can have everything ready for when we get home and not have to worry about shipping it somewhere else, there is no hassle of bringing presents to and fro, and it spreads out the giving. Here’s hoping my boys like their presents.
Let’s start with the flight…
It wasn’t too bad, but it could have been better. He only slept a short bit, after needing to snuggle my hand/arm.
We brought toys, but he was very concerned and a little scared about being on the plane. He also kept insisting on wanting to go see his grandparents…we tried to tell him that we were doing that, but it didn’t make sense for him. We ended up doing some screen time on a tablet to distract him.
But eventually we were there and able to see people!
Of course he enjoyed opening presents, but he also loved the attention from everyone.
Not to mention exciting food, like crabcakes…
new bed set-ups
Christmas Snapchat filters
a train garden
a visit to a park
and a road trip to NYC to visit more family
He actually fell asleep a couple times with his snack cup and then sleep-ate some crackers.
There was tons of reading, too.
All in all, we saw almost everyone we would like to see (not quite everyone) and he had lots of fun. Some napless days and cranky hours, but overall he did really well with all of the schedule changes and new people.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
