Leftover-Style Salisbury Steak

Today is a loose recipe. I am providing an ingredient list and steps, but the actual amounts depend on your leftovers. K and I made hamburgers earlier in the week, and you can have leftover burgers at least once, but then you get tired of them. So, I decided to make something different with the remaining burgers and buns.

For the buns, I turned them essentially into garlic bread with a bit of oil and garlic, heating them in the oven to crisp them. This paired well with the sauce. Rice would have also worked well.

K loves salisbury steak, so I figured this was a shortcut version. It also took hamburgers to a whole new place so that the leftovers didn’t feel tired.

  1. Good on ya for making leftovers into something delicious! Fun fact – did you know that “Dutch oven,” was created in a kind-of derogatory way? ie. “It’s not a real oven, just a sketchy little Dutch oven.” Don’t worry, I’m not Dutch, ha ha. And I think they’re the ones laughing now, because last I checked they were doing great in the World Cup! 🙂

  2. Salisbury steak reminds me of being a kid. My mom made it quite a bit. I always think about making it when I’m browsing the meat department at the grocery then never do. We have a ton of ground beef in the deep freeze right now (like 70 pounds – no joke) so this will be going on the menu before too long for sure.
