September Foodie Penpals Reveal

It is another month of Foodie Penpals! I like that I keep getting paired with people from the Midwest and Northeast because I have never been to those places. There are so many new foods to try! This month I sent to Shannon in Minnesota and received from Laura in Connecticut. Both ladies like to cook and blog, so be sure to check them out! I tried to send Shannon lots of snacks (sorry for any health folks out there, but it is fun to send to snack-lovers…and random health bars just aren’t as good as things like brownies and cookies!). Hopefully she enjoyed the goodies as much as I did getting them together. The brownies I made her, and the cookies, will be up on the blog soon….in the meantime, check out her page and see what I sent her.

Meanwhile, selfish time!!! My presents!!!

The Lean Green Bean

Laura promised me fall New England treats, and she delivered! It started with a fun Under Armour box (as a former Maryland girl, it was like a touch of home hehe). Inside I had a nice note explaining everything. I was even patient and read the letter before looking for everything. She must be an awesome packer because everything arrived in perfect condition! Woohoo!

First, I found the white chocolate bark…

Then something I’d never seen before…you just add cream cheese, stir, and chill…

A sweetened condensed milk so that I can make an easy caramel dip (recipe is on her blog)

Biscoff cookies! I just bought some of the spread, and now the cookies, too???  Ooo! As Laura said, who doesn’t love cookies?

And this guy…he is so adorable, and yay for honey!

A homemade touch: dried herbs from her garden!

I have so much I need to go through! Such a great box from a great blogger! Go—go to her page and follow her!

To be a Foodie penpal, you should be willing to put together a fun box and mail it by the 15th of the month. You don’t have to be a blogger, and in fact, if you wanted to write about it, you can write on your penpal’s blog if the person has one!  The official directions are below…and you can go here for more information and to sign up!

-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treatsThe spending limit is $15The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
– Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & UK residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!

  1. Oh, I love your box of goodies! And thank you for what you said about snacks, brownies, and cookies!! A lot of the posts I’ve read so far are all about healthy, gluten-free, low fat, no sugar, yadda yadda yadda. I was beginning to think that I messed up the whole idea of program with the package I sent. You’ll have to tell us how that caramel apple dip mix is…it sounds really good 🙂
