I skipped last month’s foodie penpal exchange because I knew I would not have enough time to get things together for it. A friend was visiting, I was visiting back home, we had a mini-vacation scheduled…it just wasn’t going to happen. I was excited to pick up again this month. I sent items to Meg in New York and received from Amy in North Carolina of Basal Evolution. Meg didn’t give me any restrictions, so I got lots of snack foods for her. I even discovered some new ones for myself!
Amy sent me a huge package from North Carolina. I feel like she might have been too generous, but I loved everything! Some of it is already gone. (Boo.) There are homemade items as well as a few store purchases. I like getting homemade items, as well as some new items I would not have thought to get for myself.
I loved the cute little note as I opened the one end…
Homemade coconut granola! I’ve been mixing it with some peanut butter granola I had and it’s all gone now. 😦
I found this next and wasn’t sure what it was. I could smell chocolate, and then I found it’s friend…
with a note explaining! I love how everything had a note explaining the item and/or why it was picked.
Who doesn’t need Post-It notes? Especially with a cheerful lined pack!
Magazines! Yay for new recipes I can steal, and try to be a little healthier.
I’ve never had these before. The cherry was so-so for me….a little tart, but the apple pie was amazing!!
Some other things I have never tried before:
So many cool things this month. Go pay a visit to Amy and let her know how cool she is! Then, go sign up to become a foodie penpal yourself…
-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
– Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & UK residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!
